For Those Of You Who Think Michael Jackson Is At Fault For Being Addicted To Drugs

News Flash....there are millions of people who suffer from drug addiction each and every year. White people, black people, rich people and poor people, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers, daughter's, sons, priests, politicians, superstars and even doctors! Shall I go on?

Each year that passes, the numbers of people who become addicted to drugs seem to increase. People who are addicted to drugs are not 'bad' people. These people are just like you and me, they're human, and indeed, Michael Jackson was human, just like the rest of us. He was not invincible, though some seem to have thought so by the way they treated him.

People who become addicted to drugs do not 'intend' on becoming addicted, that would be ridiculous. It starts out harmless.....you're in pain for one reason or another, some people are prone to suffer more than others, especially if they've suffered from an accident or have chronic physical ailments such as back problems, cancers ect. Pain relievers & sleep aids can change a person's life by providing relief from debilitating pain and chronic sleep disorders, this in turn gives that person a new lease on life. It can change their world for the better,,,,,,(or, for the worst).

It's a known fact that pain relievers & even sleep aids are highly addictive, especially narcotics. This is why doctors are reluctant to put their patients on these drugs, especially on a regular basis. Pain relievers and many other drugs can also cause euphoria if used to excess. The body and mind become dependant on these drugs to survive and once addicted, it can be very dangerous to wean ones self off of it. If the person has reached the point of addiction, the safest place for them to get help is in a hospital setting with a team of doctors to monitor them, because it's not uncommon for people to go into seizures and die if they try to wean themselves on their own.

People who are addicted to drugs are vulnerable, (like a small baby), they are not thinking straight,,,,,they need intervention by professionals as well as the people who surround them to be strong and support them through the difficult road ahead. They may not see that they have a problem, that's when it's MOST dangerous, when the person is unaware of their problem. They become nieve to the danger they are in therefore need a person with a clear mind to take a stand and take control for the sake of their life.

People who are addicted to drugs are not monsters........they are victims of themselves as well as their circumstances. They need help, they need love, they need understanding. These people are suffering immensely.

This world is a painful and lonely place for some people.......their pain is overwhelming, perhaps more than we can even begin to realize. So many of these beautiful people are dying each day, each hour, each minute and even each second, some at their own hands and some at the hands of their doctors. We need to become more aware of what's happening out there. Offer more programs, encourage friends, families and doctors to step up and intervene, be strong and stand up for our fallen friends and family members so that they can get the help they need.

Michael Jackson was a beautiful human being. He was in a vulnerable state before he passed. He needed someone to say 'NO' and to encourage him to get help. He didn't get that help,,,,,,,well, I take that back,,,,he 'did' get help,,,,he got 'help' acquiring the drugs he wanted by weak people who I refuse to call 'doctors'.......he got 'yes' men.

Michael's death was ruled a homicide. My harsh words about these doctors are not coming out of nowhere.......they are coming from the obvious. Now all we need is for a jury to see what I see.

If there are other doctors out there that are being 'The Candy Man' to their patients,,,,for Gods sake, if your morals and your conscience doesn't stop you from enabling your patients, then perhaps this imminent trial concerning Michael's untimely death will make you change your ways, because no matter how careful you are, there may come a day that you make a tragic mistake yourself and take a life just like Michael's doctor/doctors did.

Even though your patient is still alive while you feed them the drug that they want,,,,they are basically dead 'inside' anyway,,,because they are living a life of misery and dependency. They are not themselves. There is no happiness for them. Most addicts become distant from their families and friends and become severely depressed. Is that 'really living'? No,,,,,,they too are dead in their own way.

I know what I'm talking about because my mother is addicted to drugs and has been since I was 5 years old. She also has a doctor who I consider a 'candy man'. My mother is dying slowly from prescription drugs. All my life she has been hospitalized for drug overdose, but her doctor continues to give her the drugs she wants. To this day she is now only 100 pounds and withering away right in front of me. She will die someday, just like Michael. She is only 66 years young and shares the same Birthday as Michael Jackson, August 29th. I've tried all I can, but there is a thing called 'Patient/Doctor' confidentiality. I beg her to stop, but she won't, I've threatened her doctor, but he cares not.

This Michael Jackson case is very close to my heart, not only because I love Michael Jackson, but because I love my mother. There must be justice. These doctors must stop. And this world must not look upon people who abuse drugs as if they are monsters. They're people, they are 'all' kinds of people from 'all' walks of life.

Most likely you will pass by at least 30 people addicted to drugs each day in your daily activities, but you will not know it. Some may be kind to you, some may just pass you by....you just cannot tell, because they are the masters of disguise. They hide their illness well, they hide their pain well,,,,,,but make no mistake about it, they're dying inside. Someone needs to help them, not scorn them and definitely not enable them!
