The First Time I Saw Michael Jackson

                                                                                by B Lamrock

How can I ever forget July 6th 2002 ?  It was the first time I ever saw Michael Jackson in person!

He was on a double decker bus in New York City .  It was like something out of a dream, but then again, not really, because it was on ‘that' day, I realized that he really ' does ' exist!

I was attending a Sony demonstration to show my support for him, when all of a sudden I heard everyone screaming Michael's name! I started to get chills down my spine, thinking to myself; "No,,,could it 'really' be him"?!!

I was very lucky because I was already close to the edge of the street, so I opened up my video camera and started filming towards all the commotion, (just in case).

It's a good thing I had my camera going because from there on, everything became a blur!  I immediately got weak in the knees and very light headed when I saw that big red bus coming. I 'knew' Michael was on that bus, I just 'knew' it!

It was like a big bright shining star coming out of the heavens!

Yes, indeed! It was him!!! My knight in shining armor, the kindest most loving man I've ever known, Michael Jackson! Wow, I saw him! I actually caught a glimpse of him!!!

I was doing everything I could to maintain my footing because of the crowd pushing me, and I can't blame them one bit, they were as excited as I was.

Unfortunately I only caught one little glimpse of Michael, but that was all I needed to keep me fueled and fired up for the rest of the day, (the rest of my life really).

I could have cried, but I had to stay strong for my two daughters', who were crying their eyes out!

But 'this' was only the beginning! I never expected my 'first' time to see Michael Jackson was going to be here at the 'Sony' demonstration because I had tickets to see him with my family later that night at Webster Hall!

Yes, he was receiving an award from the fans. The ceremony was called the '30 Years of Magic Celebration.

Things just couldn't get any better could they?!

Well, that's what 'I' thought, but the best was yet to come, because the night ended with the Webster Hall performances going beyond what I could have ever expected.

Not only were the performers's unbelievable that night, but Michael looked 'incredibly' handsome, as he 'always' does. He spoke to his fans with heartfelt words, never anything less from the man we love so much. The night was a hit!

How could this day have been any better I ask?

Well, of course I could have been whisked away in Michael's arms, taken into his private jet, to glide off into the sunset never to be heard from again,,,,,,, J but, obviously, that hasn't happened, though something really great 'did' happen!

The bad news was that I almost got kicked out of Webster Hall because I had a 'video camera', (there were no video camera's allowed and despite the fact I had permission from Deborah Dannally, (the president of the Michael Jackson Fan Club), they still refused to allow it without a press pass. I was devastated. I began to leave the building but something surprising happened as I was leaving. I was approached by one of the staff member's who saw my dilemma and remembered me getting permission earlier in the day. They told me to wait right there and proceeded to go into the back room. When they came back out they reached out their hand to give me a 'Press-Pass'!!!

Words  just can't describe what I felt when he handed me that pass, it was like I was living in a dream.

This is what it looked like

My dream only got better when the staff member walked me to the bottom front of the stage where I stayed for the whole show! (Including when Michael was onstage)!  I was so close to him!!!

I got some great pictures of the show which are featured on our photos section of MJ-Upbeat.

I love to share my photos with the fans and have since gone to see Michael for two more occasions. Those photos are featured on our site as well.

I hope you liked my story and I hope you all have a chance to see Michael in person someday, so you'll get to feel as lightheaded as I did!

I love you Michael Jackson!       From your fan, Bonnie Lamrock!
