AEG Donates Funds For Memorial To LAPD
AEG, the corporation who staged Michael Jackson's memorial service, have donated $90,000 to build a tribute to fallen Los Angeles police officers. The Anschutz Entertainment Group, that also owns the Staples Center in LA, have donated money that they received from the sale of the 18 suites provided guests at the July 7 memorial for Michael.
AEG said that the decision to make the donation was made prior to a dispute over how the city's funds were spent to provide security and other services during the memorial.
President of the LA Police Foundation, Karen Wagener, said that AEG hand-delivered the check to the nonprofit group on Thursday. She said it will be used to help fund a $620,000 memorial, a brass wall expected to be unveiled in September at the site of the new downtown police headquarters.
