The comments of certain individuals and their lack of honest facts proves that certain media outlets have played a role in creating 'revisionist history' during Michael Jackson's lifetime and beyond. Over and over during the course of his lifetime irresponsible fact checking and investigation have taken a back seat to scandal and sensationalism for ratings. Many people in today's fast paced world do not take the time or are not able (for one reason or another) to check this information for themselves to understand if what they are being told is fact and truth or allegation. Retractions are seldom if ever forthcoming when this information is incorrect. Need I go into how clever editing of even filmed interviews can change not only the context of a statement but make it appear the polar opposite in terms of the innocence or character of the individual being filmed? (( Mr. Garyb986: If this is hard for you to comprehend..let me give you an easy example...in the movie Forrest Gump? Forrest DID NOT actually meet all those Presidents. And the one President who asked to see Forrests bum? That did not actually happen in real life. Clever editing of historical film footage was used to change the context and truth of actual facts for entertainment purposes. Understand now? )) With all this said, it is very important to this world concerning all issues, not just those surrounding Michael Jackson and what he did or didn't do, that journalism becomes outstanding and factual once again. There is more at stake for all of us than a man's reputation being trampled and misrepresented. Some of these comments prove that many believe everything they hear as fact and will continue to do so for years to come. We need a peaceful and cooperative world in which everyone can feel confident that what they are being asked to believe is truth. Facts can be misconstrued to cause more extreme and appalling consequences for everyone on this planet. Think about it.

nagla78 and plp9595:  I think part of your misunderstanding into how such as thing could have occurred exemplifies what is at the very heart of the problem: communication and information.  Since many centuries past information has been a commodity.  Even before there was such a thing as a printing press to document words in a language people could read and comprehend.  Art in those long ago days was commissioned from the artists to tell information with symbols and metaphor to those who could not read or write...the masses.  These masses were influenced by this art.  The artist would not have work to provide and income if they did not make this art according to the specifications dictated by those in a position of power.  All these centuries of 'progression' have changed little.  The only thing that changes is the technology that is used to spread the information.  There is still propaganda.  There is still an agenda behind what information is spread.  There is still some sort of control involved in the reason for the information being given to the masses in the first place, for honorable or for dishonorable purposes.  In fact, nothing at all will change in this regards even into the future until the masses has had enough and does something about it.

Information remember is a commodity.  Going along this same bent, agendas from those powerful minority people at the top will still be able to make human beings either individually or by the masses suffer for the sake of the dollar.

Michael was a genius.  Michael was contemplative and very analytical in his thought processes regardless of what anyone wants to portray him as being now.  He read the history and knew the art and understood the whole context of the 'message and the masses'.  Michael also had an agenda.  In so many ways he tried to open our eyes to this reality and tell us to wake up and do something about it.  He used his platform as a global entertainer who could draw large crowds to speak out against so many injustices being perpetrated against the masses.  And he did it through all his art because he was also a creative genius in every aspect of those arts.  It behooves us to take those messages and listen and do.

He wasn't able to change the world and perhaps we can't do much about it either.  But not trying is to give up and he never gave up.  Information should not be a commodity dictated by a minority.  The only way to change this is to stop paying for it or to show that selling truth is more lucrative for those bartering that information.  It's time for a change before our lives or those of our children are also on the chopping block.

This is how we do it the right way ladies and gentlemen.

These guys want to write a book about Michael.

I say...talk to them...find out what they have to say and if it turns out to be good stuff?

SUPPORT them all the way!

Make the book sales of good stuff blow away the book sales of bad stuff!

THIS is how you talk to those in the media.  It works much better than screaming and complaining.

Through the pocketbook....ALWAYS follow the money!

Money talks.  We make them get big sales and other people will be working so hard

to find good stories to make money...even magazines...that it will make our heads spin! 
Who can contact these guys?  Get on it!  I will help in any way I can.

Let's keep an eye on all these interviews...then...if Ashley Banfield does a decent job of it..

PRAISE her to the high Heavens!  Get it?

If these videos are loaded on Youtube....start hitting them hard and run up the ratings...people

watch this stuff to check 'market trends'.

The scope of this could be amazing if we all get on the same page fast.

I want to say something...just last night before going to bed I was so downhearted...I could not

see a light at the end of the tunnel concerning the potential bad book coming out and the biased media reporting

concerning Gene Simmons.  I saw how many of the ways these things were being handled were not effective or would

not make a substantial impact whatsoever.  And sadly, some of the ways could actually have the book getting more attention

if the advertisers for the book used the drama to promote it.  I am not saying who or what because I absolutely know that the

hearts are in the right place...everyone loves Michael and wants the best for him.

I was really in a bad way.  Now...today..I see some hope.  I see potential.

We can make a difference WORKING WITHIN the money grubbing industry that wants to use Michael..

we play the game the exact way they like it...ok?  We throw money at them!  We throw ratings at them!

What can we do and where do we start?  I need some feedback girls. 

Don't let this opportunity pass us by ok?

Time to team up!  Our agenda?  LOVE!  Love is the answer!  EVERYBODY!

No more separate parties with separate ideas...team up!  Do it FAST!  Do it for Michael and let's get moving!

     Thank you Ashley Banfield!  Finally!  Real news from people who actually know something!  I am so amazed!  I had given up hope that there were those who would report honest information from credible sources.  These men didn't even get paid to come on and talk?  Sensational!

     Many of today's media outlets are not those of yesteryear.  It appears that many times scandal and sensationalism dictate what we hear due to its ability to draw ratings from those who prefer this type of commentary over authentic journalism.  It is refreshing to know these men were given the opportunity be heard even though what they had to say wasn't derogatory to Michael Jackson.  How can this be?  Ashley, did you have a difficult time getting approval to run this interview?

      I have another question: Are you aware of the bias that is running rampant throughout the broadcasting outlets?  Of course, you must be, right?  There were some very questionable statements made recently by Gene Simmons about Michael Jackson.  Charles Thomson, of the Huffington Post did a rebuttal interview with someone who was also close to Michael Jackson and in a position to know the true facts, Jennifer Batton.  This interview is not being given the attention it deserves.  Allegedly, this could be because it is not scandalous enough? Or perhaps because it draws too much attention to the original faux pas these outlets made in their original fact checking before running the Gene Simmons piece?  But of course, I may be mistaken on both these reasons I have cited for its unappealing nature. You can decide for yourself.

Here is the article of which I refer by Charles Thomson.  It speaks of the decided bias in today's broadcasting.  I find it makes valid points.  Please read it.

     There is a decided feeling in the 'air' that today's viewers may be absolutely ready for journalism to return to its former glory days of fact based information over commentary and opinion disguised as authentic news.  It is time for real change in the broadcasting of information.  We need real substantiated facts.  Real investigating.  Real people who can show their faces and speak up.  Regardless of whether what they have to say is based on scandal or not. Please play a major role in that change for everyone's sake.
