Los Angeles, CA (September 22, 2009) – Michael Jackson’s biggest fans eager to be among the first to see Michael Jackson’s THIS IS IT can guarantee themselves tickets to be among the first in Los Angeles to see the film when they line up in Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE this Thursday, September 24, beginning at 5 p.m. Fans in that line will be able to purchase tickets for the advance L.A. LIVE showings of the film, which begin the evening of October 27.
Tickets specifically for the advance showings at the new Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE Stadium 14 theatres will be sold exclusively at L.A. LIVE on Sunday, September 27 at 12:01 A.M. A total of only 3,000 tickets for these special Tuesday night showings will be for purchase at L.A LIVE. No internet sales will be available for the advance Tuesday night showings at the Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE Stadium 14.
Public showings of the film will begin on October 27 at 9 PM. For one night only, the Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE Stadium 14 will mark its grand opening by showing Michael Jackson’s THIS IS IT simultaneously on all 14 screens at the brand new movie multiplex, featuring the largest theatre with stadium seating in the country.
As part of the celebration of the release of this highly anticipated motion picture from Sony Pictures Entertainment, the first 500 people in line at L.A. LIVE who purchase two tickets for the Tuesday night advance showings will receive an authentic, one-of-a-kind THIS IS IT lenticularly-printed ticket inspired and designed by Michael Jackson for the London concerts. (Limit one commemorative ticket for every two movie tickets purchased. Limit of two tickets per person per transaction. Commemorative tickets available while supplies last.)
All later shows will be available for purchase online at www.thisisit-movie.com. Michael Jackson’s THIS IS IT will be released worldwide by Sony Pictures for a limited two-week engagement beginning October 28.
The new Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE Stadium 14 Theatres will be the nation’s most state-of-the-art and technologically advanced theatres. All 14 theatres will feature digital projection and sound systems along with high gain screens, high-back reclining seats and retractable cup holders guaranteeing the ultimate comfort for the best movie experience. The Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE Stadium 14 will also feature an 800-seat premier house with a private entrance and lobby in addition to a grand spiral staircase leading to the premier theatre’s balcony level.
Starting September 24, Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE will create an exclusive fan experience with unique Michael Jackson THIS IS IT commemorative areas, including a Michael Jackson THIS IS IT tribute wall that fans will be able to sign, similar to the Michael Jackson Memorial Banners at STAPLES Center. In addition, the 17 LED video boards at Nokia Plaza will continuously run the Michael Jackson THIS IS IT trailer and many of Michael Jackson’s most memorable music videos for fans to watch and enjoy. For true Michael Jackson fans, L.A. LIVE will be the place to be on October 27 as the film’s world premiere will be in Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE, adjacent to the advance showings taking place at the Regal Cinemas.
The Michael Jackson THIS IS IT excitement and anticipation begins on Thursday, September 24 at 5:00 P.M. when fans can begin lining up to purchase tickets at Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE for Regal Cinema’s October 27 special advance showings.
Upon arrival, wristbands will be issued to fans planning to remain in line and purchase tickets for the October 27 special showings of Michael Jackson THIS IS IT. The first 500 people in line who purchase two tickets will receive an authentic one-of-a-kind lenticularly-printed THIS IS IT concert ticket from the scheduled London concerts. The tickets were printed with a special lenticular process and were inspired and designed by Michael Jackson himself and were only available to ticketholders of his scheduled O2 shows.

Michael Jackson’s THIS IS IT will offer Jackson fans and music lovers worldwide a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the performer as he developed, created and rehearsed for his sold-out concerts that would have taken place beginning this summer in London’s O2 Arena. Chronicling the months from March through June, 2009, the film is produced with the full support of the Estate of Michael Jackson and drawn from more than one hundred hours of behind-the-scenes footage, featuring Jackson rehearsing a number of his songs for the show. Audiences will be given a privileged and private look at Jackson as he has never been seen before. In raw and candid detail, Michael Jackson’s THIS IS IT captures the singer, dancer, filmmaker, architect, creative genius, and great artist at work as he creates and perfects his final show. Kenny Ortega, who was both Michael Jackson's creative partner and the director of the stage show, is also directing the film, which is being produced by Randy Phillips, Kenny Ortega and Paul Gongaware.
