f NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Being Elvis Presley's son-in-law at one time wasn't enough to garner Michael Jackson
an honor by the Tennessee legislature. A resolution honoring the late "King of Pop
" failed in the state senate Thursday.
Seven senators voted for the resolution; six voted against it. Measures need at least 17 votes to pass in the senate.
The vote came a week after the resolution passed in the House. Representatives noted Jackson was once married to Lisa Marie Presley, which made him Elvis' son-in-law.
In 2007, the Senate voted against a resolution honoring singer Justin Timberlake.
