MJ Making Chart History
28-06-09) Looks like the King of Pop will once again make chart history next week as several of his albums are likely to top the Billboard charts with major sales increases.
The impact of Jackson's suddon death was felt immediately in the marketplace as demand for Jackson's CD's were so high that most places simply sold out of them.
The albums with the biggest sales increases were the greatest hits packeges "Number Ones" and "The Essential Michael Jackson" along with the expanded reissue of "Thriller." Perhaps this is because these albums were released between 2003 and 2008 and so, had the most stock available in stores.
In the digital world where supply is not an issue, at one point on Friday, 9 out of the top 10 selling albums and 40 out of the top 100 selling songs were by Michael Jackson.
"Off The Wall," "Bad" and "Dangerous" are all expected to soar into the upper region of Billboard's Top Pop Catalog Albums chart next week. Initial reports of Jackson's sales on Thursday alone indicate that one of the albums (possibly "Number Ones") will easily make it to the No. 1 position on this same chart next week.
