Memorial To Be Free Of 'Bells & Whistles'
5-7-2009) Ken Ehrlich, producer of Michael Jackson's public memorial, insisted Saturday the event will be a restrained 90-minute affair without "bells and whistles." Ehrlich, longtime producer of the Grammy Awards, said the farewell at the Staples Center is likely to feature performances, but no final decisions have been made.
"It will be a celebration of Michael's life [but] we're not approaching it as a TV show. In the future, there may be a tribute to Michael Jackson. This is really a memorial service. It's not going to have all the bells and whistles. We want to keep it low-key."Nevertheless plenty of celebrities are expected to pay homage to the fallen pop icon.
"People who are watching it, both live and on TV, can expect to see people who have played a role in his life, who will both be reminiscing about him and speaking to the impact he's made."
