Michael Jackson & Motown Exhibits At Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
Since Michael Jackson's death, Detroit fans have flocked to the Motown Historical Museum on West Grand Boulevard to pay their respects, but they might want to consider a road trip to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. The museum has a number of iconic Jackson artifacts in its permanent collection, including his "Thriller" jacket, and currently is featuring a Motown exhibit that will be up through the end of the year in honor of Motown 50.
The special exhibit includes famed bassist James Jamerson's upright bass, which he played for all pre-1963 sessions; dresses worn by the Supremes' Mary Wilson on the "Ed Sullivan" show; Stevie Wonder's shades and outfit worn at the 1999 Super Bowl; and a graphic history of all the Motown family of labels. The main exhibit is on Bruce Springsteen.
Museum admission is $22 for adults, $17 for seniors (60 and older), $13 for children (9-12), children younger than 8 and museum members free. Call (216) 781-ROCK or go to rockhall.org.
