Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait Newsletter

You Are Part of Something Big

We are proud to have become the largest and most respected tribute to Michael Jackson in the world with participants in more than 180 countries! This remarkable ongoing success has come from the fans themselves on a grassroots, word-of-mouth basis and we couldn’t be more thankful to you for making this one-of-a-kind interactive work-of-art a reality. From the beginning, it has been Artist David Ilan’s vision to give Michael’s family, friends and fans the type of Tribute that Michael himself would have wanted. Now that you have your dot, you are part of the big picture in more ways than one!

Every day, Michael’s Tribute Portrait grows as more and more fans sign up for free dots in their name to create Michael’s image. With your continuing support in spreading the word and your daily participation on the Tribute website (which has been called “a Facebook just for Michael Jackson fans”), our goal of one million dots will soon be a reality.

How did The Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait (MJTP) become so popular? As one fan recently commented, "This is OUR tribute. You don't need a ticket, you don't have to travel, it doesn't matter who you are, where you are, or who you know ... everyone's invited!"

Remember, there’s a lot for you after you get your dot. Check out the latest celebrity Dot Ceremonies, Tribute news, groups, and Special Projects. Most importantly, connect your dot to other fans around the globe and make lifelong friendships with those who share our love for Michael.

As we approach the one year anniversary of his passing, being part of our Tribute community at http://www.MichaelJacksonTributePortrait.com will mean the world. There is much more than social networking – there’s heartfelt support. We lost Michael, but found each other.

Warmest wishes,

Jerry Biederman
Tribute Co-Founder, Organizer and Executive Producer

This Is Your Invitation To Get A Patch In
“Wrapped in L.O.V.E. – The Patchwork Blanket Project”

In case you haven’t heard about it yet, I wanted to direct your attention to a very Special Project of the Tribute Portrait that is near and dear to my heart. Wrapped in L.O.V.E. was inspired by one of our dot members and it has sparked the enthusiastic participation of many fans from around the world. It is being supported by every major MJ fan club.

The idea is for all of us to have the opportunity to take part in the making of a handmade Patchwork Blanket for Michael's mother, Katherine, and his three children. Every participant gets a patch placed in the blanket of their choice! All of the patches are sewn together to create four beautiful blankets. It's a meaningful gift from us, the Tribute members, which will comfort Michael's family for many years to come, because each blanket is made by the participation of fans worldwide who loved their father and son - and who love each of them.

You are being given this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get a patch in your name in one (or all) of the blankets. Everyone who gets a patch will have their name on the patch itself, forever. Through the Tribute's close connections, the Patchwork Blankets that you help create will be delivered directly to Katherine and the children, along with a beautiful registry with your name, username and dot number prominently presented in handwritten calligraphy. You will also be able to include your own note or greeting card.

You've connected your dot with fans worldwide. Now we can all connect our patches with Michael's family in a special gift that they will have and hold. There are a limited number of patches still available and the FINAL EXTENDED DEADLINE of MAY 9 will be here before you know it. Get your patch now!

If you have any questions, please contact Valmai Owens, Patchwork Blanket Organizer, at [email protected].

Thank you for your ongoing love and support,

Jerry Biederman
Executive Producer / Co-founder

*100 percent of proceeds are needed to support the Tribute's operational and promotional costs, and to keep the website running.

Travis Payne Gets His Dot & Invites Fans Worldwide To Get Theirs

WATCH THE VIDEO.

On April 1, Travis Payne, Michael Jackson’s choreographer for “This Is It,” was honored by the MJTP when he was presented with his dot in Michael’s Portrait. He witnessed it being drawn on the canvass by Artist David Ilan, and then, in front of cameras, invited Michael’s millions of fans to get their dots. His dot was placed in the area of the heart, which is reserved for Michael’s friends and family. The Dot Ceremony took place at the Debbie Reynolds Studio in North Hollywood, which is the same studio where Michael rehearsed “Thriller” and “Captain EO.” Among other VIPs being honored that day were renowned choreographers Stacy Walker (“This Is It”) and Milo Levell.

Find Your Dot

We are pleased to announce that after months of dedicated work playing catch up – due to so many participants joining the tribute all at once – Artist David Ilan has drawn enough dots in Michael’s Portrait to be caught up to dot 250,050. Thank you for your patience in waiting for your dot to be drawn. You can now see the PORTRAIT UPDATE and find the location of your dot by looking at the ARTIST’S LOG.

Join Michael’s Angels & Carry On Michael’s Mission

The Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait isn’t just a work of art that allows millions of fans to participate in its making. This is a tribute with a mission to inspire its dot members everywhere to create the better world that Michael envisioned and inspired us all to believe in through his songs and deeds. Michael’s Angels is an initiative on the Tribute website that challenges people to do Michael’s work in their own way and share their stories with our community. Read some of these touching stories and let us know how they move you to make a change. All who participate are awarded a Michael’s Angels badge to display on their profile pages!

What’s In Store For You?

The Tribute Portrait and website are possible thanks to YOU. It is run day and night by the generous work of a team of unpaid volunteers and funded only by your purchases and donations made at the Tribute Store. At the request of many of our members, we have added additional “I’m A Dot!” merchandise to the store. One hundred percent of every purchase goes to keep Michael’s Tribute Portrait and website alive. Please consider supporting the Tribute by visiting the store today. You earn a Fan Supporter Badge for your profile page each time you shop. Your participation means so much by allowing us to pay for monthly fees to run different aspects of the website, a programmer to keep it running smoothly, press release distribution, special promotions to spread the word, and live events to carry on Michael’s work, such as the charitable event we staged at the Magic Johnson Theatre for 60 deserving children from the inner city. Get Your Fan Sponsor Badge!

Some members have been asking if the website will continue to connect fans all over the world beyond the completion of the portrait. To answer any concerns, we are committed to keeping our community alive and growing even after Michael’s Portrait is hanging in a prestigious museum; however we can complete this interactive work of art and keep the website and its mission going only with your active and ongoing support. This Tribute is funded solely by the participants – those who got their dots and enjoy all that the website has to offer. Your support means everything. In addition to your purchases at the new Tribute Store, you can keep the Tribute Portrait growing and website going with your DONATIONS. Each time you make a donation, you will receive a coveted Fan Sponsor Badge on your profile page as our thank you for making it all possible. We’ve come a long way, but there is much more to be done to reach our million dot goal. We would be grateful for your help to get us there. CLICK HERE.
