Through the media frenzy surrounding Michael Jackson's untimely death June 25 at the age of 50, brother Jermaine Jackson has been the ever-present face and spokesman for the grieving Jackson family. Now, months later, Jermaine continues to defend his late brother, dismissing claims of Michael's poor health at the Tuesday (October 27) premiere of "Michael Jackson's This Is It" at the Nokia Theatre in L.A.
In response to a Web site's claim that the documentary does not adequately represent Michael's health concerns prior to his death, Jackson echoed what autopsy results released earlier this month already confirmed: Michael was in good health at the time of his death.
"Well, first of all, Michael was very, very healthy," Jackson told MTV News. "He was extremely healthy. Every part of his body was. [The film] was about rehearsals, preparing for the big show. I haven't seen it, but knowing how we used to rehearse, this is what it's all about."
Though MJ was in good health, Jermaine said moviegoers shouldn't expect to see the King of Pop at 100 percent in "This Is It," saying Michael focused much of his preshow energy on preparing his tourmates.
"Knowing my brother, these are rehearsals," Jackson said. "And knowing him, he was making sure everyone else was doing what they were supposed to be doing. He was giving maybe 50 percent, because his whole concern was making sure everyone was familiar with everything. But I'm very excited."
