Portrait

My canvas is a blank page,
'Till I visualize what I see.
A million different moments
Will often come to me.
Is it the misty haze at morning
That overtakes my sense of time?
As I fondly wipe away a tear
To remember your momentous climb.
It was your smile that captured
The warmth of the most brilliant sun.
I can see you in my mind's eye,
Arms raised in joyous fun!
And over there, Neverland's fields
As a backdrop for a new start.
How the spring revives a feeling
And your spirit never parts!
What wondrous things appear
When I imagine those soulful eyes,
That also imagined the magic,
Surrounding him on every side.
With the fascination of a child,
Touched with the Grace of God
To see all that is possible,
With a cheerful wave and a nod.
The renaissance dream brought home,
As the fantasy takes hold
Just like some fictional tale
That you, yourself have foretold.
All these elements woven together,
Form the colors and shape underneath.
To reveal your portrait clearly,
Each time, a masterpiece!
