The Poet's Moon

Full moon, bright moon
You're doing it again
Luminescence undisturbed,
To catch the poet's pen.

I lie awake, you laugh the more
At your ceaseless, breathless glow.
Illuminating my room with
Only secrets you could know.

You melt my heart, like fire and ice
When you're at your highest peak.
Are we to play our kiss and tell
Or your favorite, hide and seek?

Oh, melt away the sadness,
Oh, merge me with your calm.
Take away the madness
Soothe me with your balm!

Do I seek your true reflection
To impress upon me deep.
Your wayward blue connection
Lift me off to dreamland's sleep.

Like the star that never separates
And stays the night awhile.
Keep me in your company
Transfix me with your smile.

But like the quickest firefly,
You vanish all too soon.
A magic dancer in the sky

You are the poet's moon.
