'The Promise'

A Poem by Karen

I saw him on the sandbar
I saw him on the lea.
He was dancing on the seashore
Like I imagined he would be.
His jacket it did shimmer,
His hat was tilted low.
He spun around so quickly
I almost missed the show!

Yes, he was there before me
When I looked for shells that day.
There was no mistaking
His silhouette on the bay.
The armband, it glittered, an alabaster white
Then he snapped his fingers and
My eyes were blinded bright!

That signature glove was stunning
Crystal sparkles in the sun.
It was all I could do,
To catch him on the run!
His moves sleek like a panther
(That steady calculated rhythm.)
My thoughts were all but scattered.
A force even nature couldn't fathom!

I glanced down just for a moment,
Transfixed I was right there
To behold those magical shoes
Kick the sand into the air.
Their brillance overwhelmed me
They were like nothing I'd ever seen,
But the man who gave them life
Was he real or just a dream?

He pranced into the ocean surf
At the rolling waves he laughed.
He beckoned me come closer still
He stopped me in my tracks!
His spirit was oh so joyful saying,
"You know me, I'm O.K."
As we embraced like long lost friends
He gave me these words to say-

"Love like there's no tomorrow,"
As he flashed that sweetest smile
"Give because this time is borrowed
And you're only here for awhile."
I knew our time was growing short,
When he blew me a kiss sent from Heaven.
It was then that I made the promise
To live the dream Michael surely was given.
