The Rap Bowl And Joe Jackson!

Detroit Free Press, Saturday February 4

Midnight: The Rap Bowl at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Friday didn’t need Michael Jackson to have a bizarre moment. It had his dad.

Between sets featuring Twista and Ludacris, Joe Jackson unexpectedly emerged on stage, wearing a suit with a yellow pocket square and a baseball cap that said, in part, “Hip Hop.”

He said a few words about just having caught a red-eye flight, promoted a hip-hop boot camp and then launched the audience into a cheer, yelling, “Luda! Luda! Luda! Luda!”

After a long delay, Ludacris came onstage, giving Joe Jackson two shoutouts during his performance of “Yeah.”

The Palace was about 75 percent full. Only a few Steelers or Seahawks emblems were spotted in the crowd. Many more people were wearing Detroit Lions jerseys.

Even so, Juvenile make a Super Bowl prediction from the stage: He picked the Steelers.

Other performers included Juelz Santana, Freeway, and Juvenile.

Young Jeezy was taking the stage around midnight.
